Obituary for Malcolm Jack Hamilton

Malcom Jack Hamilton, of Pisgah Forest, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the age of 74, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina. He spent his last days surrounded by loved ones and his final minutes hand-in-hand with his wife, Trish, and daughter, Tricia.

Jack was born to Burgin Malcom and Dorothy Loftis Hamilton on April 25, 1947. He graduated from Brevard High School, class of 1965, and went on to continue his education at AB Tech, before being drafted to serve in Vietnam with the Army. Jack, or Dandy as he was known to his brothers in the 504th Military Police, was proud to serve as an American Soldier, and was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” device for acts of valor in combat.

Following Jacks return from Vietnam, he began a 32-year career at Dupont. In his free time, he found a love for all things automotive and began building car engines for dirt track racing with his dad. He looked forward to his yearly trip to Florida for Nascar’s Daytona 500 and Monday nights were reserved for slot car racing. In 1987 he met Trish and the rest is history. He has spent his most recent years enjoying adventures with Trish, loving on his 8 grandchildren, still spending his days in the garage, and serving as a Deacon at Holly Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Trish, along with children and grandchildren, Tricia (Chris) Bordman and children Ethan, Owen, and Eliza; Matt (Tracy) Reynolds and children Shawn, Chloe, and Trinity; and Ashley (John) Pendleton and children Kody and Jayden.

Jack was known by many names; Daddy, Dandy, Pops, Grandpa, and Papaw, to name a few. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and, most importantly, brother in Christ. We won’t forget his contagious smile, Donald Duck impersonations, bear hugs, orange flavored Life Savers, the greatness of his generosity, or the way he protected those around him.

We would be honored for you to join us in the celebration of Jack's Life and the peace of knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.

Services will be held on Monday, February 28th, 2022, at Holly Springs Baptist Church of Penrose, 7265 Crab Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm before the service at 2:00pm with Rev. Ben Brown officiating. Burial will be at Gillespie Evergreen Cemetery in Brevard, North Carolina with military honors conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard, Associate Pastor Bryan Pope presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elizabeth House at 581 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, in Jack’s memory.
