Cashiers – Margaret Hart Kaminer, age 84, born in Evanston, Illinois on August 7, 1936, passed away on June 2, 2021.
The daughter of Thomas Joseph and Betty Hogan Hart, Margaret graduated from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland and moved to New York City where she worked in the Advertising Industry. While living in New York City she met her husband, Joel Kaminer, and made life-long friends. She and Joel then lived briefly in Dallas, Texas, then moved to Miami, Florida, where they lived for the next twenty-five years. Margaret worked first as a real estate salesperson at The Keyes Company in Kendall and then as a travel agent on Brickell Avenue in Downtown Miami. Margaret also became an active member of her community and was a member of the Coral Gables Junior Women’s Club and later a founding member of the Gold Diggers charity organization. She participated in several years of charity shows, golfing outings, and similar events, the intention of these fun happenings being to provide help to others, including children, who were in need of assistance. She was also active in her children’s school and neighborhood fun. Margaret moved to live permanently in Cashiers, North Carolina in 1991, where she was an active member of her community, volunteering for the Cashiers Designer Showhouse and the Cashiers Dental Clinic, amongst the other charities she donated her time to. She and her husband were also members of The Country Club of Sapphire Valley and Cedar Creek Racquet Club. Margaret was a lifelong reader, her favorite author when young being F. Scott Fitzgerald, and later in life she was always in the middle of one book or another. Besides reading, she loved to play Bridge, which she was very skilled at, and also had fun with family and friends over the years playing Bingo. An avid traveler, her favorite destination was Europe, although she visited other continents as well over the years. She also liked spending quiet times at home with her cats and was a big football fan, for which she was not always quiet.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Joel, in 2002 and her brother Tom Hart in 2015.
Survivors include daughter, Tracy Kruckenberger (Bill) and granddaughter Jolie reside in Sapphire, North Carolina, son, Michael Kaminer (Christine) resides in Deerfield Beach, Florida and her grandson Grant Kaminer resides in Sanibel, Florida. Margaret was also a loving aunt to two nephews, three nieces, and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Wherever she lived, she made loving lifetime friends and was a friend to many. She will be sorely missed by her family, her friends, and her community.
Mass will be given for Margaret at 12:00pm on June 18, 2021, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 3011 US Hwy 64, Sapphire, NC 28774.
