Obituary for Max Edwin Shepherd

Max Edwin Shepherd, age 80 of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Oaks of Brevard after a 16 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Mr. Shepherd was born on August 18, 1938 in Sylva, NC to the late Paul Franklin Shepherd and Azalee Harris Shepherd. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Edwin Shepherd.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Shepherd taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Brevard and other churches for 40 years. Mr. Shepherd was retired from Burlington Industries and taught the Dale Carnagie Course for over 30 years. He was an U. S. Army veteran and a graduate of Western Carolina University.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Freda Jones Shepherd; one daughter, Stephanie Ealahan and husband Kevin of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaden and Kendall; one sister, Pauline Hosapple and husband Wesley of Madison, MS.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Brevard with military rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church Welcome Center.
