Obituary for Myrna Delores Mulkey (Fisher)

Myrna Mulkey passed peacefully from this world on the evening of July 31, 2020 at her home in
Indian Land, South Carolina. Myrna spent most of her life in Brevard and was educated in
the Transylvania Schools. She graduated from Brevard High School and Brevard College. She furthered her education at East Tennessee State University where she met her soulmate, Bob Mulkey. She was an active member of the DAR, Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Alpha delta Kappa. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard.

A native of Transylvania County, Myrna loved the mountains and their people. She spent many
hours mapping the genealogy of her ancestors and was always happy to share her findings with
interested persons. A career educator, Myrna instilled a love of learning in many Transylvania
children. She was a talented artist who often painted landscapes of her beloved mountains.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Coy Fisher, and her brother, Lloyd
Fisher. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob Mulkey, a son Greg Mulkey and wife
Kristin of Matthews, North Carolina and a daughter Kara Ries and husband Greg of Waxhaw,
North Carolina. She was “Mimi” to six much loved grandchildren – Ian and Aaron Mulkey, and
Michael, Morgan, Max and Madison Ries. She is also survived by her brother Gary and wife
Betty of Falls Church, Virginia, niece Amy Fisher and nephew Art Fisher, and sister-in-law Mary
Kathryn Fisher as well as several cousins in the area.

Myrna will be remembered for her quick wit and her discerning mind. She had a way of making
complicated things seem simple. She will be remembered by her family and many friends as
someone who always had time to talk and time to listen, who always had a kind word or funny
remark, and who enjoyed the moment she was in.

Private graveside services were held at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery with the Reverend Hank Moffitt officiating.
