Obituary for Joann McCrary Black
Myrtle Joann Black, 82, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 15, 2020, at The Oaks of Brevard.
A lifelong resident of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of Ellison and Lula McCrary. She is preceded by eight brothers and sisters, Kay McCrary, Jack McCrary, Gene McCrary, Louella Merrill, Helen Chanell, Thalia Queen, Eileen “Sister” Summey, with one surviving brother John Allen McCrary and his wife, Sylvia. In addition to her brother, survivors include two children, Wayne Bailey and Velina Parker; three grandchildren, Aaron Rackley, David Sorenson, Michael Sorenson and his wife, Heather; three great-grandkids, Xander Mykel, Ezekiel James, and Zane Maddox.
Joann was a graduate of Brevard High School. She worked for the American Thread in Rosman for a number of years and retired from the E.I. DuPont film plant in Cedar Mountain.
Due to COVID19, there will be a celebration of life sometime in 2021.
