Obituary for Ophelia Media McCall (Morgan)
Ophelia Morgan McCall, 98, of Rosman, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse Roland Morgan and Suphronia Chapman Morgan.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby and Viola; six brothers, Otis, Buren, Deavor, Dennis, Burlin and Willard Morgan; and daughter Joyce McCall Tobin.
In her younger days, she enjoyed tending a vegetable garden and convincing authorities she should be allowed to collect wildflowers from prohibited areas. She loved walking the hills around her home and spent many happy days in the woods.
She is survived by one brother, MacArthur; one sister, Athilee; and children, Joe McCall (who was her primary caregiver in her later years), Joan Chappell and Margo Roess; and granddaughters, Rebecca Bristol and Kathryn Silver.
She cherished her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. She also treasured her church family at Midway, and took great joy in her faith in the Lord, and that joy was apparent to anyone who knew her.
She lived her life in accordance with Philippians 4:11, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”
She rests in Old Toxaway Cemetery with her kin, thanks to James Sanders. The family also wishes to thank Pastor Ricky Lee and Midway Bible Baptist Church for their love and support during this difficult time.
