Obituary for Ove Andersen

Brevard - Ove Andersen, 68, passed away at his home on Saturday morning with his wife of 40 years Jan Andersen, sister Jayne and Brother Fitz at his side.
Ove was born to Patricia Rose Fitzgerald Andersen and Richard Axel Andersen at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington where his father was stationed in the Air Force. He grew up in Baltimore and Northern Virginia.
Ove joined the U.S. Army in 1973 and served four years. Ove received his B.A. in History from Virginia Tech in 1979. He also received a B.S. in Accounting from UNC-Charlotte and an M.A. in History from Clemson University.
Ove and Jan met at Virginia Tech. Some of his fondest memories were of Virginia Tech. He never missed watching Virginia Tech football and basketball. And in his opinion, there was only one MLB team – the New York Yankees.
Ove held a number of accounting jobs over the years and retired as controller at Brevard College.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Ben, daughter-in-law Brittni, and granddaughter Mia Rose, whom he adored. He is also survived by sisters Jayne Ramirez and Cathy Jones and Brother Fitz. He had a special relationship with niece Amy Warmack ( Weaver) who lived with Ove and Jan for several years. He had nine nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews who were all very special to him. Other survivors include aunt and uncle Valerie and Raymond and cousins Louise and Spencer who reside in the U.K.
Friends and family will commemorate Ove’s life at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27 with graveside rites at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. If you would like to remember Ove, please consider donating to the Kidney Cancer Association at kidneycancer.org
