Obituary for Patricia O'Dell Ashburn
On Monday, June 7, 2021, Patricia O’Dell Ashburn passed away peacefully at home after a brief, but fierce battle with cancer at the age of 71.
Pat was born on May 29, 1950 in Transylvania County to James “Roy” and Millie (Fisher) O’Dell. She graduated in 1968 from Rosman High School, and kept in close contact with many of her classmates. She retired from RHA, after working with “the guys” at Forest Bend for several years.
Pat was a loving mother to her three daughters, Christy, Alyssa, and Shannon, whom she fought for and taught to stand up for themselves and for those around them. She was an adoring Granny and “Ga” to Austin, Cole, Roy, Leland, and Leighton. She was an active member of Selica United Methodist Church, crocheting numerous prayer shawls for their “Crafty Lady” group.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother and father, Millie (Fisher) and Roy O’Dell. She is survived by her sister Nancy (Don) Henderson of Quebec, her three daughters, Christy (Brad) Woodson of Pisgah Forest, Alyssa (Mark) Miller of Rosman, and Shannon Ashburn of Asheville, four grandsons, Austin and Cole Woodson, and James Roy and Leland Miller, a great grandson, Leighton Woodson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on June 20, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Selica United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Transylvania Animal Alliance Group (TAAG), www.taagwags.org or P.O. Box 844, Brevard, NC 28712, or another animal organization of your choice, as Pat was a lover of animals.
