Obituary for Patricia Audrey Kerr

Brevard - Patricia Audrey Kerr (94) passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, January 10, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Victoria and William Kerr of Pittsburgh, PA. She was predeceased by her brothers: William (“Billy”) Kerr and Richard (“Dick”) Kerr, and ex-husbands George H. Bailey, John C. Morgan and Lester Huber.

Patty was born in Pittsburgh, PA. and she spent most of her childhood there.

Throughout her adult life she lived in many places, spending the most time in New York City, NY; Ridgewood, NJ and La Jolla, CA. She retired in 2007 to the North Carolina mountains, living in Brevard and Asheville.

Patty had many jobs over the years, including employment as Office Manager in a Ridgewood real estate office, and as Church Secretary at La Jolla Lutheran Church. Always ready to participate in community activities, she was active in several organizations, including the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and theatrical fundraisers for the local school system. Her hobbies were writing poetry, painting, drawing and sewing. She also loved to entertain!

Survivors include four children and their spouses: David Bailey & Larry Russell of Asheville, NC; Barbara Shevory and Mark Shevory of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina; Janice Griesemer and Larry Griesemer of Waynesville, NC and John Morgan and Shannon Welsh of Portland Oregon. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Lynn Shevory, Robyn Shevory, Peter Shevory, Eric Griesemer, Brett Griesemer, Emma Morgan, Hector Gamblin, Quinn Morgan, Meghan Trezies, Sage Mastranunzio and Kai Mastranunzio. Additionally, she is survived by six great grandchildren: Gavin, Chase, Maddox and Cohen Griesemer; Baze Duckworth and Elin Trezies.

Patty will be remembered by those who knew her for her mischievous and fun-loving spirit, her vivacious energy, her gracious ways, her big smile and by the ever-present sparkle in her bright blue eyes. Her message to those who knew her (and to those who did not) was, “Don’t worry, be happy.”
