Obituary for Wanda Plemmons Justice

Queen Wanda Plemmons Justice, 85, formerly of Brevard, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Herman Erastus and Tennie Buckner Plemmons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Edgar Justice and her brother, Don Plemmons.
Survivors include sons, Garry Justice (Stan Schneider) of Charlotte, NC, and Frank (Rita) of Lowell, NC; daughter, Teena Phillimeano (Butch) of Willow Springs, NC; brothers, Al Plemmons (Betty) and Reid Plemmons (Anna Jean) of Brevard; grandchildren, James, Joshua and Jacob Justice, Julianna and Caroline Phillimeano; great granddaughter, Maggie Lynn Justice.
Mr. and Mrs. Justice started out in Madison County (Spring Creek) and moved to Haywood County (Hazelwood) before settling in Brevard in 1958 where they raised their family and put down deep roots in the community. They served the Lord as members of Cherryfield Baptist Church for many years before moving to First Baptist Church, Brevard in 1977. They enjoyed singing in the choir together as well as serving in many other ways. Their lives were built around the people of God and this enriched them with friends with whom they will fellowship throughout eternity.
Mrs. Justice occasionally said through her beautiful smile, “James is the home builder and I’m the home maker.” She served her family well as a home maker but later completed an Associates Degree at Blue Ridge Tech and worked for many years at Olin in Brevard.
She had the gift of hospitality. Her life revolved around serving others. Her theme song would be, “If I Can Help Somebody.” She was a true friend to many and loved everyone. Although the battles of dementia and other physical ailments took a toll on her they never took her smile. Her joy was in the Lord – that was her strength. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church on Sunday, November 29, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow. Social distancing will be honored and we request that all attendees wear a facemask. There will not be a graveside service.
