Obituary for Ralph Blake Whitmire

Ralph Blake Whitmire gained his Angel wings Friday April 1st , 2022, at home with family all around and is now reunited with the love of his life.

He was a devoted husband father and Christian who was a life long member of Cherryfield Baptist church.
Mr. Whitmire was born in Transylvania County on September 22, 1934 to the late John Leander and Betty Whitmire.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Evelyn Whitmire, infant son Kelly Ray Whitmire, brothers John Lee and Oscar Whitmire and sister Betty Jean Coltrane.

He is survived by son Mark Whitmire ( Jennifer ) of Brevard and his daughter Jessica Eubanks ( Patrick ) children Elijah and Cora; son Ray Whitmire ( Sandra Boozer ) of Brevard and his daughters Marcie and Emily; son Dale Whitmire ( Yati ) of Hendersonville children Wahyu, Allan and Allison; daughter Olivia Whitmire of Brevard son Officer Michael Whitmire ( Kaylyn ) child Lincoln Whitmire of South Port, NC; and her sons Lance Corporal Marine Donovan Carr and Keegan Carr; daughter Ann Whitmire of Brevard children Megan Capps daughters Harper and Amelia Merrill; Madison Benton ( Sam ) daughters Zinnia and Lily; along with her other numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph grew up in Rosman at his parents Mill. Stories still exist of the various shenanigans that occurred between he and his brothers during deliveries across the county and into South Carolina. He moved to Wichita, Kansas went to work for Boeing aircraft and later listed in the Army serving in Germany and France. Back home he worked for Daniels construction and finally Ecusta where he went on to retire. He was a people person and after some time being retired he went to work at Ingles where he enjoyed meeting new friends.

On Wednesday April 6th, 2022, the family will receive friends from 1 PM– 2 PM at Moody Connolly Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Gillespie Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in his name be made to Shriner's Children’s Hospital.
