Obituary for Ray Edward Jones

Rosman - Ray Edward Jones - Beloved husband, daddy, papaw, brother and friend to many, entered into the presence of The Lord November 2, 2020.

He was born in Rosman, North Carolina to Johnny & Dixie Jones. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny & Dixie Jones, sister Christine Rice(Tracy), his sister Marilyn Jones that passed away as an infant and his brother Floyd Jones.

He spent most of his life as a car salesman and could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady wearing white gloves in the middle of July. As many of you were able to hear his wonderful ability as a self taught guitar player, he enjoyed doing that until the very end. He wrote many songs and sang for the Lord at church often. Even with the Alzheimer’s taking over his mind, he still remembered how to play even if he couldn’t get the words to form. It brought us all joy and smiles to our face.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn, son Stacy(Misty), daughter Tracy Galloway(Barry), grandchildren Whitney Evett, Matt Davis, Hunter Galloway(Jacksie Anna), Tanner Galloway(Rosie), great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Bently, Jaxson, Parker Ray, Carter and Jazmyn. He is survived by his sisters Hazel Tucker(Bob) and Sheila Tinsley(Mike) sister in law, Mary Jones and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts will be used for funeral, medical and family expenses.

A memorial service will be held 3pm, Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Rosman Baptist Tabernacle. The family will receive friends following the service.
