Rebecca Felty - Her name was Rebecca, not Bec or Becky. She preferred to be called Rebecca or Becca.
She was a lover of animals and a lover of art and dance. She was a talented artist with the ability to paint with watercolor, pastel, and oil. She loved to dance and loved music.
She was an amazing cook but prone to make a mess of the kitchen during her creations.
She made homemade Christmas decorations and snow cream when it snowed.
She made the best vegetable soup on planet earth and she would cook it all day in our house in Colorado. She could ice skate on the frozen Loveland Lake and taught me to do the same.
Her chocolate pie was delicious.
She was very smart and capable of doing complex mathematical equations in her head. I once was told by her friends that without her assistance, many would have never passed Calculus.
She was always supportive of anything I pursued. She taught me that I could do anything in this world.
She never missed a concert or band performance. She drove miles weekly to take me to lessons, gigs and clinics when I was not old enough to drive. She bought my first car and did not kill me when I came home with a ticket. She loved all of my friends. She would take us everywhere and tolerate our sophomoric antics to a certain point. She loved the celebration of Christmas and gave me my name as a reminder of her favorite time of year.
She was strong enough to lift a baby grand piano off of my foot when as a child one fell onto mine.
She was my mother. No one on this earth has the courage to protect and defend you nor love you as much as your mother. I know this because of her.
