Obituary for Rick

Rick “Moose” Compton
2-8-1953 to 6-2-2021

Like the mighty oak, his roots were deep and his branches were wide. A man of strength and stature filled with unbounded knowledge and wisdom beyond his years. A creative and loving spirit with steadfast determination and resilience. A man of his word, with a heart full of giving. Rick lived a life full of adventure and was a captivating storyteller with an infectious smile. His tales often had a deeper meaning than the words used to weave them. To know him, was to love him. His physical presence in our world will be greatly missed but his light shines forth brightly in the lives and hearts of all those left behind.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lori and their two adoring children Peyton and Gray. Also left behind, his: Son-In-Law Jon Smathers, Mother Betty C. Sanford, Brother Gary Compton and his wife Roberta, Sister Janet Robertson and her husband Dale, Mother-In-Law Karin Brown, Sister-In-Law Michelle Maggard and her husband Tony, Brother-In-Law Richard Brown and his wife Sandy, numerous nephews and nieces, a large community of friends that were like family and his three special boys Bo, Jack and Boone.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life for Rick, this fall, when the winds of change blow in and their hearts have mended from this tremendous loss.

I give you this one thought to keep.
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush.
I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone.
I am with you still, in each new dawn. - unknown
