Obituary for Richard DiBartolo

Richard (Dick) W. DiBartolo of Brevard, NC, age 92, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 5, 2020 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 22, 1927 to Achille and Carmela DiBartolo. Mr. DiBartolo lived many years in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Boynton Beach, Florida and then Kennesaw, Georgia before moving permanently to Brevard, NC in 2009. He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Harriet J. (Morgan) DiBartolo and is survived by three children, Gary R. (Rose) DiBartolo of Savannah, GA, Susan A. Lehner (George) of Blue Ridge, GA and Richard M. DiBartolo of Atlanta, GA. and his current wife, Dottie (Dorothea) Collins DiBartolo of Brevard, NC. He has eight (8) grandchildren and three (3) great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of golf, boating and cars.

After serving in the US Navy in World War II, he attended Ohio University in Athens, OH.

At OU, he was a member of the Bobcat football team, and Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Until recently, he enjoyed his annual OH alumni lunches and gatherings.

After college, he began his professional career in the cosmetic industry with the old Fuller Brush Company and progressed to becoming a pioneer in the women's cosmetic industry. He is widely known as the initiator of the "Gift with Purchase" promotional program that is now known as the industry standard in the cosmetic business. Cosmetic companies that he has been affiliated with and left his mark are Harriet Hubbard Ayer, Germaine Monteil, Estee Lauder, Borghese, and ending his cosmetic career as Vice-President of EB5, before retiring. Mr. DiBartolo was a member of the Lakeside Yacht Club in Cleveland, OH as well as the Golden Harbour Yacht Club in Boca Raton, FL. He enjoyed many short boating cruises as well as many longer cruising journeys and loved commercial cruising too.

Dick was an avid golfer and belonged to Glen Cannon Golf Club, Brevard, NC, Delray Dunes Country Club, Boyton Beach, FL, and Marietta Country Club, Marietta, GA.

A private service for the family and friends in scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, NC with internment to follow at the Boynton Beach Mausoleum in Boynton Beach, FL on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
