Obituary for Richard Michael Slonecker
Lake Toxaway - Richard Michael Slonecker, age 61, beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and “Pops”, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.
He is preceded in death by his father CWO Robert K. Slonecker.
Rick was born in Illinois on June 9th, 1959. As a self-proclaimed “army brat”, he lived in many different places throughout his childhood, both here in the United States as well as Japan.
Rick was a carpenter, or as he’d like to say wood tick, for over 40 years. He was very passionate about music and a talented musician. He played the bass for many bands throughout his life. He had a love of flying airplanes, riding his Harley, playing golf, going to NASCAR races and spending time with all his many friends and family.
Rick is survived by his wife Darla Slonecker of Balsam Grove, NC, son James Slonecker of Lake Toxaway, NC, daughter Nikki Snyder and husband Richard of Leonardtown, MD, daughter Cassie Morgan and husband Scotty of Lake Toxaway, NC and eight beautiful grandchildren, Cayden, Raegan, Colby, Landon, Zachary, Nathaniel, Natalie and Ella. Mother Lola Slonecker of Charlotte, NC, brother Robert “Bob” Slonecker of Charlotte, NC, brother Ronnie Slonecker of Florida, sister Laura Slonecker-Jenkins of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 4pm, Monday, November 9th 2020 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
