Obituary for Robert Perry Grant
Mills River - Robert Perry Grant, 82, died Friday, September 23, 2022.
A native of Swain County, NC, he grew up and lived his life in the Boylston / Mills River community in Henderson County.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Patterson Grant, parents William Perry Grant and Katie Meadows Grant, and siblings Doris Grant Gibson, Kenneth Grant, Bruce Grant, and Terrell Grant.
He lived his life with honesty and integrity, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He retired from his long career at the Ecusta paper company in 1998, but certainly did not wait for retirement to enjoy life. He always loved spending time with his family and friends, working on endless creative projects in his workshop (he could build or fix almost anything), appreciating the outdoors through farming, gardening and exploring mountains, beaches, and numerous trips around the country with his wife over the years and generally sharing his smile, humor, and personality with all.
He is survived by his son Brian K. Grant and partner Brian R. Tesar of Durham, NC, and his siblings D. Edwina Grant, Max Grant (wife Louise), and Catherine Grant Greene (husband Gerald) of Mills River and Martha Grant Hamlin of Warner Robins, GA.
Bobby Grant was a wonderful man, husband, father, brother, and friend who will be missed by the many people his love, kindness, wit, generosity, and smile have touched throughout his life.
Memorial services will be held 2pm, Thursday, September 29 2022 at Boylston Baptist Church in Mills River with the Rev. James Burress officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
