Obituary for Robert Harold Heath

Brevard - Robert “Bud” Harold Heath, 77, passed away on February 12, 2021 after a battle with cancer.
A native of Brevard, he was born on September 15, 1943 to the late Elzie Heath and the late Ethel Walker Heath. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Jones and his brothers, John Heath and Grady “Dick” Ray.
A United States Navy veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. After his military service he met and married Virgie Lantz Heath and then returned to Brevard where he lived, worked and raised a family for over 50 years. Although he first worked at Transylvania School System, most people knew him through his expert service as a tree surgeon throughout the county. A good Christian man, he was well-known for his hugs and grew up at Carr’s Hill Baptist Church. Over the years many local kids came to be like his own children and grandchildren. Those around him loved his sense of humor - making him the life of the party, especially among his grandkids.
His survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Virgie Lantz Heath, his daughter, Tina Phillips, his sons, Bobby Heath, and Phillip (Tammy) Heath all of Brevard. He also leaves behind grandchildren Joseph Heath of SC, Nicole (Trevor) Shipman, Blake Phillips, Layton Phillips, Chandler Phillips, Christian Heath, Kaitlyn Heath, Kyleigh Heath, two great grandchildren and his sisters, Betty Barton, Mary Ball, Becky Owen, all of Brevard and Vera Catron of VA and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Carr’s Hill Baptist church in his honor.
Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Carr’s Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Shane Hardesty officiating.
