Obituary for Robert Edward Reitman

Robert “Bob” Reitman

Bob Reitman passed peacefully in the comfort of his home following a brief illness on March 4, 2022.

Born in Newark, NJ on March 11, 1946, Bob, and family moved to Dallas in his late youth subsequently moving to New Orleans where he met his wife Gail where they resided for 39 years before retiring to their forever home in Brevard in 2005.

Well known for his wry sense of humor, Bob was deeply loved by everyone who entered his life, he loved everyone back equally, except for that one guy, you know who.

Bob enjoyed a lengthy and rewarding career as an engineer and project manager with Union Carbide and Dow while living in New Orleans.

As a car enthusiast from an early age, he had a great passion for cars from both classic and modern eras. He was an avid bowler early in life and took up pickleball after retirement with great success. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities he was introduced to including cycling and hiking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Caroline and is survived by his loving wife, Gail, of 54 years, his two children and their partners, Lisa (Spike) and Michael (Katie) and was a doting “Poppy” to Elliott, Mora, and Anna. Sushi and Sugar will also miss him greatly.

There are currently no memorial events planned and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Anti-defamation League, The Jewish Federations, or in petitions to the SDNY AG office.
