Obituary for Sandra Hoffman Pues (Hoffman)

Lake Toxaway - Sandra Hoffman Pues, “Sandy”, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Ormond Beach, Florida surrounded with love, prayers, and her family.
She was born in Livonia, Michigan on February 6, 1941 to Donald J. Hoffman and Gwendolyn R. Hoffman. Sandy moved to St. Petersburg, Florida from Michigan when she was 12 with her parents and younger siblings. The first thing she, her sister and two brothers successfully conquered was how to swim faster than the alligators. Sandy accomplished this with flying colors as she was the fastest and best swimmer on her high school swimming team.

Once she graduated from Boca Ciega High School, she met and fell in love, with Charles Lee Pues, “Chuck” and married on Saturday, January 30, 1965. The happy couple moved to many different states across the country pursuing Chuck’s career, of course with their loyal Yorkshire Terriers. While they were living outside of Chicago, a miracle they had been praying to God for many years had been finally answered. Chuck and Sandy were blessed with a beautiful daughter, born in Georgia in 1983.

During Sandy’s life, she worked at many places including; The St. Petersburg Times, Pinellas County School Board and Lake Highland Preparatory School, Florida. Her greatest joy was spending time with Chuck, Stacey, large extended family, loving on her Yorkies, crafting, cross-stitching, and sipping on a glass of Chardonnay from her porch during her time she lived and visited North Carolina, while enjoying the beautiful weather, gorgeous views, and fresh crisp NC air.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Hoffman. She leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 56 years, Charles Lee Pues, beloved daughter Stacey, and son-in-law Roy Caldwell. She is also survived by; her brother William Hoffman, sister Suzanne Carroll, nieces and nephews; Dawnn West, Tiffany Berard, Rob Carroll, Holly Marchan, Terry Williams and many great nieces, nephews and her precious Yorkshire Terrier, Tyler.

Graveside services will be located at Evergreen Gillespie Cemetery in Brevard, NC, held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Service will be managed by Moody-Connelly Funeral Home and conducted by Marcus Dodson, Reverend and friend of the family for over 25 years.
