Obituary for Stephen Michael Smith
Stephen Michael Smith, age 60, of Brevard, passed away unexpectedly at Mission Hospital on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
He was born on November 24, 1961, in Charleston, SC to Barbara Thompson and the late “William H. Smith”. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eric Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years of the home, Sharon Smith and step-daughter, Abigale O’Shields; brothers, John Smith and wife Sherri of California, Chris Smith, Timmy Smith of Charleston, SC; sister, Lisa of Canada; daughters, Chasity McCall and husband Jim of Marion, SC, Talon Byers of Tennessee, and Hope Smith of Brevard; step-daughter, Maria Raines; step-son, Joshua Raines and wife Ashley of Brevard; grandchildren, Trinity and JT McCall of Charleston, SC, Hunter, Riley, Zeke and Logan Elliot; Cody Raines, Tyler Raines, Bianca Raines, Brayden Raines, Colton Brock, Elizabeth Raines, and Anna O’Shields; niece, Arika Smith of Charleston, SC; nephew, Bradley Smith of Charleston, SC.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981-1984. He was an avid deep-sea fisherman. He loved his wife, kids, step-kids, grandkids, friends, and family.
He owned Lake Toxaway Heating/Cooling Company for many years, and he built Bear Tracks Trading Company in Quebec. Mr. Smith also worked for several HVAC companies around Brevard. He started another HVAC Company called Hillbilly Heating/Cooling in 2018.
Mr. Smith loved being outside, having cookouts with the family, building, laying rock, and anything to do with the outside. He loved to hike and play with his grandkids. His grandkids were his world.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Monday, December 27, 2021, at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
