Obituary for Thelma Kay Davis (Buchanan)

Thelma Kay Davis (Buchanan), 84, of Pisgah Forest was called home Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. She was born in Buladean in Mitchell County, NC. Thelma loved God, family, and church. She was a member of Oak Grove Community Church. She worked at American Thread and along with her husband Glenn operated Twin Maple Produce for over 25 years.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents Carmen Buchanan and Hannah Melton Buchanan; and nine siblings, Ernest Buchanan, Burgin Buchanan, Walter Buchanan, Edna Mathis, Ray Buchanan, Mandy Buchanan, Paul Buchanan. Ralph Buchanan, Farrell Buchanan; grandson Jermey Keever, grandson Christopher Hamrick, great grandson Gregory Keever, and son-in-law Keith Gillespie.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Glenn Davis; sisters June Helton and Velma Frady; four children, Larry Keever (Debbie), daughter-in-law Edith Sheehan, Marty Davis (Teresa), Bill Davis (Amy), daughter-in-law Rose Davis, Cassandra Gillespie (Michael); foster children, Wiggins Blackfox, Sarah Wildcat, Ricky Birchfield, Bubby Birchfield; grandchildren, Patrick Keever (Elise), Brandy Fuller (Chris), Larry Allen Keever, Lillie Davis, Joey Davis, Leah Davis, Drake Davis(Cindy), Barron Stewart, Alex Stewart, Ashely Davis (Greg), Chris Whitmire, Stephen Phillips, granddaughter-in-law Kayla Phillips, Stephanie Phillips, Zach Fisher, Cody Brissey, Seth Lucenti, Spencer Meachum; great grandchildren, Michael, Jacob, Christine, Dutch, Landon, Jermey, Julia, Kelsey, Joshua, Glenn Michael, Katylynn, Cissie, Isabella, Nevaeh, Hanna, and Samantha.
Special thanks go to Thelma’s aide Sherry Robinson and the doctors and nurses who treated her in the ICU. Services will be held at a later date. Flowers for the graveside service would be appreciated or in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Breast Cancer Society.
