Thomas (Tommy) William Gillespie
Thomas William Gillespie, age 71 of Pisgah Forest went to be with His Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
A native of Transylvania County, the son of Walton R Gillespie and Alva Fisher Gillespie. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his father-in-law Bob Cooper, mother-in-law Jeanette Cooper his sister and brother-in-law Doris Nell and Hardie King, brothers-in-law Wayne Hollingsworth, Dick Queen, Ulas Guice.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Donna Cooper Gillespie: Sisters Glenda Queen of Pisgah Forest and Martha Hollingsworth of Etowah. Brother-in-Law Bobby Cooper (Belinda), Sisters-in-law Suzanne Stroup (Charles), and Irene Stowe (Bruce). Nieces Kerri, Mindy, Aliana, Linda, Faye, Michelle, Tina and Terri. Nephews Jim, Cole, Darren and Brian.
Tommy served in the US Army in 1970-1971. He worked at Ecusta 32 years until it closed. He was the owner of Western Carolina Towing until retiring. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest.
Tommy loved God, his family, hunting and fishing and drag racing. Teaching himself to pick the guitar was a favorite hobby. He and his loving wife, Donna, were inseparable. Where you seen one, the other was close by.
Donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will be held with the Rev Mike Pressley officiating. Everyone is invited to attend the interment 12pm, Friday, January 22, 2021 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
