Thomas Mainard Reeder, 86, of Brevard, North Carolina went to meet his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2019.

Tom was born on November 19, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Fred and Blossom (Mainard) Reeder. He was married for 46 years to his beloved wife, the late Anna Louise (Boren) Reeder and is survived by his children, Julie Ann (Reeder) Malmquist, Gregory Thomas Reeder, Ann-Marie Boren Reeder, sister, Phyllis (Reeder) Mueller, and six grandchildren.

In 1954, Tom graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Political Science and then served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant Artillery. Tom graduated from Indiana University School of Law and immediately passed the bar exams in both Indiana and Florida. On August 8, 1959, he married Ann and moved to Hollywood, Florida where he officially began his career as an attorney in land title insurance. Tom culminated his career by establishing Title America Insurance Corporation, a subsidiary of homebuilder Lennar in Miami, Florida.

Tom was a dedicated Christian and joyfully served in his churches and communities all his life. He was an energetic charter member of Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church, started by his late father-in-law, Dr. Amos L. Boren, in Hollywood, Florida. Once moving to Miami, Florida in 1977, he faithfully served at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church as Clerk of Session and supported his wife, Ann, by ringing handbells in the adult choir she directed. Upon his move in 2000 to Connestee Falls in Brevard, North Carolina, he became an active member of the Adult III Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Brevard. Tom taught Bible studies all his life and was still leading a Bible study in his home that began over 20 years ago. Tom was also a former president of the Connestee Fire Rescue Auxiliary and raised funds to enhance their equipment to help save people’s lives in his community.

Memorial Services will be held 11am, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Brevard with Tom’s nephew, Rev. Nicholas Merchant officiating. The family will receive friends from 4pm until 6pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Thomas M. Reeder to the Myositis Association, 1940 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 or to the Connestee Fire Rescue Auxiliary, P.O. Box 2427, Brevard, NC 28712.

Our condolences are with the family during this time of loss. Tom and his dear wife, Ann, were special friends with whom we enjoyed spending time and sharing travels when we lived in Connestee Falls, NC. Our adventures included trips to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji Island, Bahamas, NC Outer Banks, Florida and also included many wonderful dinners together. Sharing meals and laughing were always a part of our get-togethers. We enjoyed Tom's quick wit and humor on these occasions. The Bible study he conducted at his home was a blessing to us and he endeared himself to all who knew him.

Love & Prayers,
Wendall & Joan Allen

I was saddened to hear of Tom Reeder’s passing. My desk was outside his office during his time at NATIC and he was such an educator and mentor to me. So patient with all my questions. I will be forever in his debt for taking the time to explain so many title rules and concepts and make me think and learn. I have always treasured a hand painted wooden tray from him. A lovely souvenir he brought me from his trip to Germany for the Passion Play in 1999. His details and enthusiasm when we discussed subjects always made our conversations interesting. He was so excited about the planning and building of his of his retirement home in N.C. I am glad that he enjoyed many happy years there. Tom's was a life well lived. God bless Tom and his family. My condolences on his passing.

I am sorry for your loss. Death is an enemy. Soon God will bring death to an end. (1 Corinthians 15:26) All those in God's memory will live again. (John 5:28,29)
