William (Bill) Ragland, 88, of Brevard, N.C. entered Heaven on May 19, 2020. He was born in Centreville, Alabama on October 15, 1931.

Bill graduated from Bibb County High School in Alabama. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Afterward, he attended Texas Tech University as an Engineer Major. He started his career at Chance Vought Air Craft and then moved to Red Stone Arsenal in Huntersville, Alabama where he continued his work on the military and space missile program. Later he went to work with RCA in satellite tracking with NASA. While with RCA he and Lucille moved all over the U. S. until they came to Brevard where he worked at the Tracking Station in Rosman. Billy, I don't know if you remember me, but I was Asheville Citizen-Times bureau chief in Brevard throughout the 1990s. I found your dad's obituary after a friend told me Will Cathey had also passed away and looked up his obit. I was in Brevard -- in fact, I was on the radio covering the Brevard-Pisgah game for what was then WPNF -- when a BPD officer came and told me my dad had been taken to the hospital. He was already gone by the time I got to Mission. I just know the particular hurt when you lose your dad. I remember you two were very close. Blessings of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be upon you and your family. †

Dear Lucille and family,
My deepest condolences go out to y'all during this difficult time. May our loving Heavenly Father, the precious memories each of you have of Bill, and knowing you will be with him again be a comfort to each one. May it also help to know that many thoughts and prayers are with you in your sorrow. I have many fond memories of Bill and your family.
Love and prayers,
Gladys Cauley
