Obituary for William Lee Vaughan

William Lee “Bill” Vaughan, age 79 of Brevard, NC went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022. Bill is now singing songs of Praise in Heaven beside those that passed before him.

He was born July 15, 1942, in Slater, SC, the son of Lud Burley Vaughan, Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Vaughan. Bill was married to Nancy Hendricks Vaughan for 54 loving years, his wife, best friend and mother to their daughter, Tammy Lee Vaughan, who was born 4-11-68 and was the second love in his life from that point on.

Bill is predeceased by brothers L.B. Vaughan, Jr., Tommy Raymond Vaughan, and John Burt Vaughan. He is also predeceased by his sister Rebecca Madeline Vaughan and his sister-in-law Minnie Lou Vaughan.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Bill is survived by his brother Joseph Paul Vaughan (Lori), Grace Pauline Owen (Curtis), and Virginia Ann Clanton (David), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. No matter your role in his life, you always knew Bill loved you.

Bill graduated from Brevard High School. Shortly after that, he joined the United States Army to serve in Vietnam. He was active from 3-24-64 through 3-20-66 as well as a reservist for a short time after that. Bill was a Deacon at Morningside Baptist Church for many years. His father was a Baptist Preacher and all the boys at one time or the other ended up singing in their dad’s church whether together or separately. Bill loved to sing songs of praise and worship.

Most people will remember Bill from his days working in produce at either Community Cash or Winn-Dixie. He was always that guy who could brighten your day. Either with a piece of your favorite candy, a conversation or a prayer if needed. Bill was an amazing cook and loved to cook for his family. He would prepare desserts and cook for days just to feed his family on Thanksgiving Day. Feeding all of his family was literally like feeding an army. If you were blessed to have a moment with Bill, you probably left smiling or laughing.

William (Bill) Vaughan, you will be Always missed! Forever loved! And Never Forgotten!

The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Morningside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military honors conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
