Aaron Masters, 91, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026.
Born on August 16, 1934, Aaron lived a life marked by hard work, perseverance, and quiet strength. Raised in humble circumstances, he faced a difficult childhood with grit and resilience, building a stable life and providing faithfully for his family.
Aaron proudly served his country for five years in the United States military, with assignments in Korea and Germany. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with DuPont before retiring.
In his younger years, Aaron was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and spending time with animals. His mini farm was always full of life, with horses, cows, chickens, rabbits, raccoons, and loyal hunting and farm dogs. After retirement, he found special joy in raising goats and could often be found caring for them and watching them play.
Aaron was the kind of man who never met a problem he could not solve or a challenge he could not overcome. He believed in hard work and self-reliance, and he was always willing to help others who needed a hand. Though not one to openly express his emotions, he loved his family in his own steady way and showed that love through his care, his provision, and the dependable presence he offered throughout their lives.
He was preceded in death by his wonderfully loving wife, Marjorie Masters; his amazing mother, Nora Heath, whose own strength and determination helped shape the man he became; and his grandsons, Jared Shannon, Austin Shannon, and Mason Gordon.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Guffey, Melanie Zachary and her husband Gene, Kim Moretz, and Greg Masters; his grandchildren, Melissa McCoy, Logan Zachary, and Aaron Gordon; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Schmidt, Grace Griffin, Piper Shannon, Kinzie Gordon, and Bodhi Shannon; and his sisters, Montez Owen and Ann Galloway. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will remember him for his resilience, resourcefulness, and generous spirit.
Aaron’s life was a testament to perseverance, devotion, and quiet strength. He faced hardship from an early age, yet built a life through hard work and determination. His legacy will live on in the family he provided for, the lives he touched, and the example he set for those who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held 2pm, Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Dunns Creek Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Boggs.
