Alice Josephine Barton Crawford Brevard - Alice Josephine Barton Crawford, 95, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Lonzo and Rhoda Capps Barton and was the wife of the late John Newton Crawford. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Kit Tillman and Elizabeth Galloway. Mrs. Crawford was a member of Shepherd's Chapel. She never met a stranger and she lived for her children. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Diaz-Segoia of Brevard, and Josephine Owen and husband Joseph Mack Owen of Brevard; son, Travis Nevar Crawford of Brevard; sister, Martha Eubanks of Brevard; grandchildren, Janice Owen Stevenson Troy Owen, Melissa McCall Owen, David Owen, Melony Shipman, Colbie Hooper, and Logan Crawford; great-grandchildren, Tara Stevenson, Brian Stevenson, Dereak Owen, Josh McCall, Tonya McCall, Jacob Owen, Aveary, Riley and Tucker Hooper, Landon, Ansli, and Gabe Shipman, Khloe and Madison Crawford; great-great granddaughter, Selena McCall; great-great grandsons, Zavith and Zaiden Owen. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 23, 2013 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
