Pisgah Forest - Alice Grace Tinsley Franks, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her home in Pisgah Forest.
She was born on July 9, 1929 in Brevard to the late Willie and Beulah Hudson Tinsley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Furman Franks who passed away on July 7, 2005, step-mother, Minnie Newton Tinsley, brother, J. P. Tinsley in 2003, step-brothers, Ted Newton in 2007, and Glen H. Newton in 2011.
She is survived by her two children, Juanita Franks, and Randall Franks and wife Sandra Franks all of Pisgah Forest; sister, Emma Lee Mathis and husband Orville Mathis of Pisgah Forest; sisters-in-law, Christine Newton and Joy Tinsley both of Pisgah Forest.
She was known as Mamaw to her 3 grandchildren, Amy Franks Sherlin, Cookie Carol Franks, and Loni Franks Dieterich, and her 8 great-grandchildren. They were her greatest joy.
She loved life, her family and loved meeting people and talking to them while working at Pisgah Fish Camp. She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Whitfield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Turkey Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Turkey Creek Baptist Church Treasury.
