Alma Mae Pruitt Merrill Brevard – Alma Mae Pruitt Merrill, 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at The Oaks of Brevard. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Bob Pruitt and Agnes Murray Pruitt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ansel Merrill, and son Ansel Joe Merrill, sister Thelma Devore and son-in-law Jerry Emerson. Mrs. Merrill was a member of Little River Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Shipman and her husband Tommy of Little River, Mrs. Elizabeth Emerson, of Little River; son Jerry Merrill and wife Le of Gastonia, NC; brothers Albert Pruitt and Bob Pruitt of Lincolnton; sisters Aretta Presley, Betty Woodring and Margaret Burgess , all of Brevard; grandchildren Brian, Alex, Crystal, Jeff and Joe Merrill, Eric and Nathan Emerson, Luther Shipman and Angela Ramer and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 10, 2012 at little River Baptist church with the Rev. Chris Farmer and Rev. Tommy Madden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
