Alvin "Gerald" Reese age 85 of Rosman peacefully passed away at the Elizabeth House Hospice Center on March 16, 2023.

A lifelong resident of Transylvania County, he was born in Brevard and lived in Rosman until his death. He graduated from Brevard High School and Berea College where he ran track.

Gerald was drafted into the US Army and served in Fort Gordon, Georgia. He worked for American Thread, Farm Bureau Insurance and Rosman High School.

He was a member of East Fork Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 45 years and where at the age of 14, he met his forever love Mary Jane Powell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane Powell Reese; his children, Sheila Cozart (Robert), Sondra Green (Kim), Steven Reese (Duffy); beloved grandchildren, Cassie Neelands (Andy), Zachary Cozart (Hillary), Bethany Green, Bailey Reese, Tanner Green (Katie), Justin Cozart (Samantha); great grandchildren, Carter and Charlotte Cozart, Bristol Cozart and Blayne Toms, Dianna Green and Marshall Neelands; brothers; Butch Reese, Avery Reese and Tom Reese.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Kermit and Sallie Reese, and siblings, Mack Reese, Howard Reese, and Linda Payne.

A Celebration of life will be held at East Fork Baptist Church in Brevard on Sunday March 19th, 2023. Visitation 1:30 pm and service at 3:00 pm. A private family burial service will be held.
