Pisgah Forest - Ellen Buchanan Dillard, 88, got her angel wings on September 2, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Ellen was the wife of the late Gilbert Dillard. She retired from the US Forest Service. She was born May 20, 1936, in Webster, NC. Ellen was the daughter of the late William Tyler Buchanan and Rhoda Green Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Carmen Anita Pangle, sister Wilma Buchanan Austin and step- son Terry Dillard.

Survivors include, sons; Marvin Pangle (Karen), Alan Pangle (Nita), Ivan Pangle (Norma, Chris Pangle (Terri); step-children Dianne Cabe (Steve), Timothy Dillard (Donna), Michael "Mick" Dillard (Teresa), and Cathy Dillard Galloway, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, sisters Grace Buchanan Dettmar and Ruth Buchanan of Webster and brother William "Bud" Buchanan (Erma) of Mills River.

We all look forward to the day of reunion in the presence of our Lord

Her celebration of life service will be held at Boylston Baptist Church of which she was a loyal member on September 20, 2024 at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boylston Baptist Church.
