Anthony (Doug) Hawkins, 59, of Balsam Grove passed away peacefully at the Charles George Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville, NC on July 28, 2024 after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

He was a graduate of Erwin High School, a paratrooper with the 82nd airborne division of the US army, and worked in hvac for nearly 30 years.

He was preceded in death by both parents and survived by his wife of 27 years, Kim, a son, Cameron of Asheville, nc, wife Debbie, and grandsons Silas, Austin, and Connor. His daughter, Allison of Balsam Grove, NC and grand daughter emmery, and his brother Sam Murray, of Asheville, nc,wife Kayla, and nephew Charlie.

He loved honing his bushcrafting skills, fishing, camping, and being a papa. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
