Brevard – Arlee Robert Stamey, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014. A native of Transylvania County he was the son of the late Artillus and Nina Mae Franks Stamey. Mr. Stamey was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, and he attended Selica Community Worship Center. Surviving are his wife, Betty Wright Stamey; sons, Robert Stamey, Bryan Stamey, and Barry Stamey all of Marietta, SC; daughters, Debra Cox and husband Charles of Travelers Rest, SC, Tina Bridwell of Greenville, SC, and Kathy Freeman of Greer, SC; step-son, Dwayne Huey of Brevard; sisters, Jewell Allison and husband Wayne of Brevard, Faye Paden and husband Frank of Brevard, and Jeanette Dycus of Greer, SC; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Stamey officiating. Burial will be in Cathey's Creek Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans.
