Brevard – Arthur Lewis Thomas, 88, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC.
A native of Pickens, SC, he was the son of the late O'neal and Norma Chappell Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Melvin Thomas and Lloyd Thomas, sister, Jeannie Thomas, daughter Tobitha Corn and grandson, Mike Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during WW II, and was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ruby Pruitt Thomas; son, Keith Thomas and wife Joyce; grandsons, Kevin Thomas and wife ShaRee, and Doug Corn, Jr. and wife Alisa; granddaughter, Derinda C. Powell and husband Harry; great-granddaughter, Deanna Corn; brothers, Larry Thomas, Bobby Thomas and wife Phyllis, Cecil Thomas and wife Dottie; sisters, Josie Snipes, Frances Cody, Pearline McCall, Pauline Armstrong and husband Bob, Hilda Barton and husband Doug; sister-in-law, Pat Taylor and husband Lavuan; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, June 6, 2013 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Owen and Rev. Raymond Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
