Obituary

Arvella Parker Chambers passed away on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023. Arvella was born on August 26, 1936, to her parents Vella & Lenora Parker. She was married to her loving husband, Doyle Austin Chambers, for 66 years. He adored her and cared for her, always staying by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put others before herself. She was a 1954 graduate of Brevard High School and a lifelong native of Transylvania County. She was a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church and joined there as a young girl. She was baptized in the Davidson River.

She was dedicated to serving the Lord during her lifetime as a music leader, Choir member, teacher of BYW, Mission Friends, Acteens, VBS, Sunday School, and Training Union Classes. Arvella became a very loyal Clemson fan after working to put her husband, Doyle, through school at Clemson University. She worked at Ecusta/Olin paper and film divisions. When her children were born, she stayed and cared for them, and then returned to work as a secretary in the engineering department at Olin. She volunteered at the library, Straus Elementary, and Brevard Elementary. After Arvella retired, she especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren whom she has always been very proud of. She was a very generous soul who always made sure her children and grandchildren had everything they needed, especially nice clothes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vella & Lenora Parker. She is survived by her husband Doyle Austin Chambers of the home, her children Michele Chambers Turner and her husband Jeff Turner of Lake Toxaway, NC, and Doyle Parker Chambers and his wife Laura Higgins Chambers of Pisgah Forest, NC, her grandchildren Mark Tuner and his wife Eryn of Knoxville, TN, Sarah Turner Nobles and her husband Noah Nobles of Fayetteville, NC, and Selah, Elizabeth and Austin Chambers of Pisgah Forest, NC and her sister, Naia Parker of Pisgah Forest, NC and numerous extended family members.
