Arvil Lee Barton, 92 passed away peacefully at his home in Pisgah Forest North Carolina Sunday December 29th, 2024.

He was born just a quarter mile from where he lived and after his father died when he was only five years old, his mother remarried, and the family moved to South Florida where he and his four brothers grew up together.

At the age of 17 He joined the Army and served during the Korean War. After his Honorable Discharge, he began work as a heavy equipment operator. He married his first wife in 1957 and raised three children while working for Golightly Brothers construction company.

In 1990 he married his second wife and moved back to Pisgah Forest.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed most weekends hunting or fishing.

He is preceded in death by his mother Pearlie Jones and his father Joseph Hayden Barton and his brother's, Melvin and Cecil Barton.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette Barton; his half-brothers Raymond and Roy Rinc; his three children, Bonnie Joyce and her husband Mike, Kathy Glickman and her husband Al, and Jeff Barton; his two stepchildren, Ricky Wilson and his wife Debbie, and Terri Underwood.  He has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 6 pm Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Moody- Connolly Funeral Home, 181 S Caldwell St. Brevard NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Full military graveside rites will be held on Friday January 3rd, 2025, at 11am at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, 994 Hendersonville Hwy, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768 in the Veterans Garden of Honor.
