Austin Lee Shannon, age 23, of Brevard, passed away on September 28, 2011 after a valiant battle with Cystic Fibrosis. He is survived by his mother, Cindy Guffey of Brevard; father, Marvin Shannon of Pensacola, FL; three brothers, Jared Shannon of Brevard, and David and Chris Shannon of Pensacola; grandparents, Aaron and Marjorie Masters, Aunts, Melanie Zachary (Gene), and Kim Gordon; Uncle, Greg Masters; Cousins, Logan Zachary, Aaron and Mason Gordon, and Melissa McCoy all of Brevard; special friend of 16 years, Alex Griffin of Detroit, MI; his faithful canine companion of 10 years, Cain; and many other close friends. Austin was a gifted artist and musician and lived life to the fullest, keeping a positive attitude while dealing with CF and its many complications. He was the drummer for the band, "Running on E". A celebration of Austin's life will be held at 2 pm Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. A private family interment will be in Dunn's Creek Cemetery at a later date.
