Barbara Lyda Nicholson, 75, of Rosman passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Clyde Henry and Edith Blackwell Lyda. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Gertha Nicholson and daughter; Caroline Lynette Nicholson. Mrs. Nicholson taught fourth, fifth and sixth grades in Transylvania County for 28 years. She was a member of the Transylvania County Crafters Guild and of the NC Teachers Association. She loved wildflowers. Surviving are her son MSgt (Ret.) Lee Nicholson and wife Connie of Eagle River, AK, brother Clyde Lyda, Jr. and wife Ruby, sisters; Loenna Henderson, Betty Self and husband Johnny, Dorris Davis and husband Jack and Maxine Lyda, grandchildren; Ashley Zanek and husband Josh, Brandon Nicholson and wife Cassidy and Haylee Nicholson, one great grandson; Avery Nicholson. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Allen Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.
