Barbara Sue McCall, 76 of Balsam Grove, NC, passed away November 9, 2023 after complications from a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ira C. McCall, her mother, Vera Ellen Owen McCall, two brothers, James Cecil McCall and Robert Wayne McCall and a niece, Kelly McCall Parker.  She is survived by three sisters, Joyce Bell and Keitha Reid of Balsam Grove and Nina Whitmire (Steve) of Rosman, a sister-in-law, Clara Neill (Wayne) of Brevard, a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.  Barbara had no children of her own, but spoiled all of the nieces and nephews as if they were hers.

She was a member at Shoal Creek Baptist Church since her youth and was active in the church and community until just recently.  She was a caregiver who stayed with elderly or disabled folk in the Brevard and Lake Toxaway areas and as far as West Virginia and periods of time in Columbia, SC.

The family would like to thank all who contributed to her care in various ways:  EMS, Dr. Kline's office and staff, Transylvania Regional Hospital and Home Care nurses and therapists, and many more.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shoal Creek Baptist Church, St. Jude's Children Hospital and/or Samaritan's Purse.

A visitation for friends and family will be held at Shoal Creek Baptist Church on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Patrick Owen officiating.
