In loving memory of Barbara Jean Vega

October 22, 1950 - July 31, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Vega, who departed this life peacefully on July 31st 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by the love of her family in her home in Etowah, North Carolina.

Barbara was born October 22, 1950, in Oconee South Carolina to Benjamin and V.C. Lusk. She is married to the love of her life, Mariano Vega-Vega. They built a wonderful life together grounded in love, laughter and service to others.

Babara is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mariano; their children Regina, James and Frankie, her beloved grandchildren, Cassandra, Phillip, Chase, Victoria, Elvia, Elizabeth, Eve, Rachel, and Olivia, and many great grandchildren; Miley, Lilly, Abby, Gabriel, Kraven and Connor.

A visitation of Barbara's life will be held on Sunday August 3rd, 2025, between the hours of 5pm-7pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home at 181 S. Caldwell Street, Brevard, NC 28712. We invite friends and family to come and celebrate her life.

The following day we will have a burial service on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 2pm at Whitewater Baptist Church at 270 Whitewater Church Road, Sapphire, NC 28774 friends and family are welcome to come.

Barbara stubbornness, patience and unwavering strength will remain in our hearts forever.
