Pisgah Forest – Bessie Pressley Corn, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, after being cared for by her loving family for many years at her home. She loved her Lord and her church, Rosman Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She was a blessing to many and she will be dearly missed. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Pressley and Carrie McGaha Pressley and was the wife of the late Robert Lee "R. L." Corn. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ollie Pressley, Edith Fowler, Lessie Brown, and Helen Brown, and her brothers, Rev. Carl Pressley, Rev. Ralph Pressley, and Lawrence Pressley. Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Sheppard and husband Jimmy of Pisgah Forest, Shirley Owen of Brevard, and Sheila Byrd and husband Kenny of Brevard; son, Robbie Corn and friend Billie Ann Anderson of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren, Shane Owen, Will Byrd, Charis Owen, Jennifer Sheppard, Jasmyn Denton, Anna Travieso, and Brittany Byrd; great-grandchildren, Colby Hogsed, McKinsey Sizemore, and Presley Conley; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mike Pressley, Carl Overton, and Troy Stamey officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Sheppard, Colby Hogsed, Shane Owen, Milton Pressley, Dennis Pressley, and Tim Pressley. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, formerly Pisgah Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
