Brevard – Betty Ruth Moody Tinsley, 81, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Roy Edward Moody and Cora Lucille Turner Moody and was the wife of the late Samuel Frederick Tinsley. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carolyn Owen and Kathryn Moody, and baby brother, Tommy Moody.

Mrs. Tinsley was a very active member of Cherryfield Baptist Church where she was the choir director for many years. She received a Masters of Education from Western Carolina University and was an elementary school teacher for many years. Mrs. Tinsley was a volunteer with the Transylvania Hospital Auxiliary and also with the Transylvania Board of Elections in the Cathey's Creek Precinct.

Survivors include her sons, Anthony Tinsley, and Greg and Kristen Tinsley all of Brevard; grandson, Lane Tinsley; sister, Gloria Wilson and husband Michael of Mills River; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Jane Tinsley; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Cindy Hoxit, Johnnie Ball, and Devan Hoxit.

The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Cherryfield Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Preslar officiating Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, August 1, 2016 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
