Billie Eugene Johnson, 78 Penrose, NC Oh, the land of cloudless day Oh, the land of an unclouded day Oh, they tell me of a home where no storm clouds rise Oh, they tell me of an unclouded day Billie "spelled with an ie - never has been spelled with a y" Johnson traveled to that beautiful land on Sunday, October 05, 2014, a beautiful uncloudy day with the skies over the pines in Penrose opening to receive him. Billie left us after a brief illness at The Elizabeth House, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived in death by his loving, strong, and brave wife, Dorothy June Johnson (Miss June), two daughters, Melinda Quarles and husband, Kevin. Cindy Wilde and husband Greg. His three grandchildren Becky Corthell and husband Web, Colby Wilde, 13 and Travis (wife Amy) Quarles. Two great-grandsons, Hunter Quarles, 12 of Bowersville, GA and brand new, 4 day old, Maddox Finn Corthell whom he already loves dearly. Billie is also survived by brother Burt Johnson, sister's Eva Nell Clouse and Margaret Childers, all of Franklin, NC. Billie was a dedicated service man stationed on the US Corregidor for the United States Navy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Walter and Laura Ellen Anderson Johnson, brother Danny Hopper Johnson, and niece Renee "Dinkle" Childers. We know few but certain things, Billie, a devout Christian, was ready to go to meet his Maker and visit family and friends. Billie has a new job – his favorite hobby, mowing the fields of heaven, and certainly not least, is talking, and talking, and sharing many stories, those of which we will truly miss. Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Little river Baptist Church.
