Obituary

Rosman  - Billie Douglas Trotter passed peacefully April 29, 2024 at the age of 84.

He was born in Rosman and lived all his life in Transylvania County. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He then returned to Rosman and married Margaret Sitton. They had one son, Jeff.

Bill worked as an insurance salesman and also worked for the Transylvania County Sheriffs Office. He then spent 20 years working at Ecusta as a millwright and maintenance person.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lunar Cantrell, mother Lela Cantrell Trotter Powell, father T. C. Trotter, sister Barbara Jean, and brother F. A. Powell.

Bill is survived by his son Jeff, grandson Logan, brother Eddie and sister Betty. One of his greatest pleasures in life was the time he spent "clowning around". He was a Mason and a member of the Shriner Clown Unit, The Cut Ups. His clown name was Laffs-A-Lot. He loved bringing smile and laughter to all.

The family would like to thank all that were there for his care, including Louise Daves, the Bayada nurses, Sapphire Ridge Staff, 4-Seasons Hospice, all the doctors, and one good friend,  Sharon McCall and her son Chip, who were with him through everything.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 1pm, Friday, May 3, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
