B. D. Pratt February 10, 1921 to February 11, 2016 B. D. Pratt of Hendersonville, formerly of Brevard, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016. Born February 10, 1921 in Huntington, WV he was the son of Clarence G. and Ruby Mansfield Pratt. A graduate of Marshall University, he was a research chemist and engineer for U. S. Radium (Bloomsburg, PA), Westinghouse (Hampton, SC) and Owens Corning Fiberglas (Granville, OH) retiring to Seneca, SC and then Brevard. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances Quinn Pratt, and their children and spouses Laura and Ted Askew, John and Teresa Pratt, and Ellen and Doug Harris; grandchildren Andrew Pratt (wife Annie Schutte), Caroline and Alexander Pratt, and Aaron and Becca Harris; and one great grandchild Penn Rose Schutte-Pratt. An avid reader, family requests donations in his honor to the Friends of the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (www.friendsnclbph.org) or the non-profit of your choice. The family is being cared for by the Brevard First United Methodist Church with a memorial service scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2 pm.
