Blair Jackson Willard was in born on August 16, 1920 in Providence, Rhode Island and died April 15, 2013 in Brevard, North Carolina at the age of 92.
Blair is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene, of Brevard, brother, Kenneth Willard, of Fairport, New York, his children, Russell Willard, of Lewisville, North Carolina, Gail Smith, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and, as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War, received the Silver Star in 1951 for gallantry in action against the enemy.
He spent his professional life as a Petroleum Engineer working for Texaco Inc., and lived in Long Beach, California, Golden, Colorado and Caracas, Venezuela. His interests were many including, firearms and high-performance automobiles. He was an active member of the Asheville Rifle and Pistol Club and had served for many years as a volunteer for the Brevard Police Department.
A private memorial was held by the family.
