Cedar Mountain – Blanche Scruggs Jones, 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Leon Scruggs and Ethel Alzine Brown Scruggs and was the wife of the late Joe Earle Jones. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ella Mae Gillespie and Estelle Scruggs, and her brothers, Lemuel Leon Scruggs, Harry V. Scruggs, and Walter Scruggs. Mrs. Jones was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church where she held the office of Treasurer for 47 years. She was the Valedictorian of the Brevard High School Class of 1934. Surviving are her daughter, Ruth Jones of Cedar Mountain; nieces, Sharon Edwards and Joyce Madden; nephews, Terry Scruggs and Charles "Dudley" Gillespie; several great-nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Hemphill officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church's Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Hill Baptist Church, P.O.
