Bobby Joe Metcalf Brevard –Bobby Joe Metcalf, 73 , passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014. He was the son of the late Jeffrey and Omilee Shuler Metcalf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Gregory and David Lee Metcalf. Bobby served his country in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He attended Jubilee Community Church in Asheville. He was employed for more than 30 years with Dupont Corporation. He was a very compassionate, gentle, loving and patient man who loved the outdoors. Surviving are his loving companion, Brenda Walker of Asheville; daughter, Cynthia Elliott and husband Pat of Seneca, SC; sister, Barbara Jackson and husband Charles of Candler, NC; three grandchildren and special K-9 friend, Dijon also his "friends with a purpose" of the WNC Parrot Head Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buncombe County Animal Shelter, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806. A Memorial Service will be held 11am, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Debbi Brooks officiating.
