Brevard - Bret James Stewart, born August 30th, 1973, passed away at his home on February 17th, 2020 at the age of 46. A Transylvania County native, Bret got his Bachelor's Degree in English at Brevard College before going on to get his Master's Degree in Philosophy, as well as a second Master's Degree in Divinity. Prior to his passing, Bret was in the process of getting his Doctorate. Aside from his passion for academia, Bret was a devoted Christian, a Dungeons & Dragons whiz, and as well as a spirited outdoorsman. Much of his time was spent studying, creating, and hiking local trails, though he also loved to play board games with friends and family. Bret was a lover of the arts, with a great appreciation for theater, literature, and language, but Bret had a particular gift for writing. Despite his passing, Bret will continue to use his gift to touch lives through his stories and poems. Survivors include his loving mother, stepfather, two sons, three younger sisters, and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be held 12noon, Friday, February 21, 2020 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
